Macie: Meeting the Roommate

Macie was waiting for her roommate to arrive.  She'd emailed Macie to tell her that she'd be arriving today- three days after Macie's mom left.  So now Macie was just sitting cross-legged on top of her white blanket with large pink and green polka dots, staring at her roommate's bed and wondering what it would look like, what she would be like.  Classes hadn't started yet, and Macie felt like she was in suspended animation.  She went to SAG headquarters on Saturday to register and for a "mixer" to get to know other actionheroes.  A mixer.  What was it, the 80's?  Oh, no, what if it was a whole bunch of old guys?
Just as she was starting to freak herself out, there was a slight knock at the door and it opened.  A thin girl lugged in two gigantic suitcases that looked like they were about to crush her.  Macie hopped up, taking one of the suitcases from her.  "Oof-" she turned to grip it with two hands. "That's really heavy."  She pulled it into the room.  Once both suitcases were inside, Macie shut the door.  "Hi.  You're Aqua, right?"
The other young woman tucked a bit of her layered black hair behind her ear and smiled.  "Yeah.  Macie, huh? It's so nice to finally meet you! Are you already unpacked?" Aqua asked, a bit surprised.
"Yeah, my mom helped me." Macie could only smile and shake her head.
"Oh, man," Aqua grinned.  "Parents, right?"
"Well, don't get me wrong, most of it was helpful," Macie answered.  Then she grinned impishly.  "But yeah."
It turned out that Aqua was studying to be a nurse.  It was funny, actually, even though she was a bit of an oddball, who listened to indie music and did some stuff Macie had never heard of- like playing a game called, what was it again, Dragons and Treasure?- it turned out that they actually had a lot in common.  Like, they both dreamed of devoting their lives to helping other people.  By the end of the day, Aqua was unpacked and they were starting to become friends.
