First Encounter

           "So, what now?" Macie asked.
"Keep an ear to the ground, pick the right neighborhood, and follow our instincts." White Wind walked out into the dark downpour, and Macie knew her style well enough now that she followed without asking. They walked some distance, and Macie's teeth started to chatter. She hadn't thought the latex of her suit could cling to her skin any more, but the rain made her feel practically naked, except for her skirt, which felt like it weighed a million pounds. But Macie realized the rain was sort of slicking right off White Wind's suit, even though her hair was already made limp.
            "How come you're not soaked?"
White Wind glanced over at her. "Rain repellant. You can buy it in a spray can. Now, listen," she instructed. It was nicer than "shut up." Macie heard some sloshing foortprints, and they glanced around the corner cautiously to see a pair of people, a man and a woman, walking towards each other on a side street. Each of them was carrying a briefcase, and they met under an awning. They opened their briefcases. They could only see the inside the woman's, but hers was filled with cash. Macie glanced over at White Wind and White Wind nodded, gesturing that Macie should come down from above while she would come around from the side.
Macie's feet left the ground instantly. They'd worked out that she could use her body weight to tear right through an awning. The man was closer, so she'd aim for the woman while White Wind would take him down. Her nerves tingled as she zipped over.
White Wind used her powers to clear a bit of a path in the water so she could make less noise as she lithely darted around the corner. Then, as she rounded the corner fully, feet behind the guy, she saw it: a reflection off of something in a window above the street. It could've been a camera, but White Wind was betting both their lives it was a gun.
Magenta Burst tore through the awning in the next second.
